Where we work
The Scarlatti team works across a wide range of sectors, including food and fibre, education and training, skills and workforce, government and the wider public sector, economic development and science and innovation.
This breadth of experience means we don’t just bring sector knowledge to our work, we bring broad perspectives to each of our projects. We notice patterns, test and refine ideas in different contexts and apply what works from one setting to another.
At the same time, we know that context is everything. Every sector has its own nuances and ways of working. With this in mind, we enjoy taking the time at the beginning of each project to understand the sector and environment we are working in. This ensures that our work fits your world and will add value to you.
Whether you work within one sector or across many, we bring a balance of fresh thinking and practical understanding to each project.

The questions we start with
Our work usually starts with a question (or two!). We hear questions from our clients like:
- Are we investing in the right things?
- What impact is this programme having?
- What do our customers think about our product, service, or pricing?
- We are collecting lots of data, how can we better use it to inform what we are doing?
- What are our psychosocial risks?
- Is this initiative worth continuing? Or scaling? Or stopping?
- How can we refresh our strategy so we’re clear on what to focus on and what not to?
- Why aren’t people adopting this, and what would shift that?
- How can we use AI to become more efficient?
We begin by working alongside our clients to unpack their questions. Together, we get clear on what they really need to know, the decisions they’re trying to make and where the gaps are.
From there, we design the right approach to answer these questions. Whether that’s through research, evaluation, modelling, facilitation or a mix, our approach is always tailored to the question at hand and the context it sits within.
